EMDR is a structured, effective therapy that uses bilateral stimulation to help clients heal from trauma. Many clients will experience a reduction in vividness and emotional intensity related to their trauma-related memories. EMDR has shown effectiveness with a number of mental health challenges including PTSD and other trauma-related disorders, anxiety, panic attacks, addiction, depression, sleep disturbances, grief, and sexual assault.
Trauma is more about one's perception of the event rather than the event itself.
What is considered trauma? How does EMDR really work? Who can benefit from EMDR? What does it look like in practice? What are clients saying about their experiences?
